Interactive Map Guide

Learn how to use our real-time Pokémon GO map to find spawns, raids, and more.

1 What is the Interactive Map?

Our interactive map is powered by ReactMap, a real-time visualization platform that displays live Pokémon GO data from your covered regions. The map shows active spawns, raids, gyms, PokéStops, quests, Team Rocket invasions, and much more—all updating in real time as new data becomes available.

2 Getting Started with the Map

Step 1

Access the Map

Navigate to the map page from the main menu. The map will load showing your default region or the last viewed location.

Step 2

Check the spot is covered

The map shows data only where we scan, and your plan decides which layers you see. Tokens don't unlock anything on the map. You can check an address on the Coverage Map.

Step 3

Enable Map Layers

Open the ☰ menu and switch on the layers you want. The Filter the map section below has the labels.

Step 4

Start Exploring

Zoom, pan, and click on icons to view detailed information about spawns, raids, and other points of interest.

4 Filter the map

Every layer on the map lives in one menu, and what's in it depends on your plan. The labels here are the ones on map.pogoalerts.net.

What your plan shows

  • Free account, signed in: PokéStops, gyms, raids, lures and scan areas. No Pokémon.
  • Basic and Premium: add Pokémon with IV, level and PvP ranks, quests, invasions, nests, weather, routes, S2 cells, Power Spots and Max Battles.
  • Premium: adds Scan an Area.
The map rechecks your plan about every two minutes. Just upgraded? Wait two minutes and reload the map. The recheck only runs for sessions that have a stored sign-in, so an older session may never pick up the change: if a reload doesn't help, sign out of the map and sign in again with the account you paid with.

Open the menu

Tap ☰, the first round button at the top left of the map (its tooltip reads Open Menu). The sections start with Pokémon, Gyms, PokéStops and Nests, and Settings comes last. Tap a section to open it.

On a free account there's no Pokémon section, so the menu starts at Gyms. PokéStops stay hidden until you open PokéStops and turn on All PokéStops.

Turn Pokémon on

Open Pokémon and check Enabled is on. Out of the box the map shows every Pokémon at 90 to 100% IV, hundos included. Filters you've saved in this browser replace these defaults.

IV, level and PvP

Pokémon Filter Mode starts on Basic, and that's all most people need. The Main tab has IV Range and the PvP rank sliders Little Cup, Great League and Ultra League. The Extra tab has Level, Attack, Defense, Stamina, CP and the XXS and XXL sizes.

A Pokémon shows when it fits all of the IV, level, CP and stat sliders, or when it fits any one PvP rank or size. So setting Great League to 1–10 adds every top-10 Great League Pokémon on top of your IV results. Filter Help, at the bottom of the section, shows the same rule on the map.

Under Global Quick Selects, 100% IV shows every 100% IV Pokémon, whatever else you've picked. It's on by default.

Show one species

  1. Open the Select tab.
  2. Tap ✗ next to Set All to clear every Pokémon. If you've typed a search, that row reads Set Filtered and ✗ clears only the matches.
  3. Search for the Pokémon and tap its icon so it turns green.
  4. Go back to the Main tab and drag IV Range out to 0–100 to see every one of that species, not just the high-IV ones.

Only Show Available is on by default, so a Pokémon that isn't spawning right now isn't listed, and the search box only appears when more than 10 are listed.

Turn off 100% IV as well if you want that species and nothing else.

Quests and raids

Quests: open PokéStops and turn on Quests. Every reward shows at first. To narrow it down, use the Items and Pokémon tabs underneath: ✗ next to Set All clears them, then tap the rewards you want. The map shows each stop's regular task, not its AR task.

Why a quest on the map might not match the stop

Raids: open Gyms. Raids is on by default. Leave Raid Override on Disabled and pick eggs and bosses on the Eggs and Raids tabs, or choose one tier in Raid Override to show only that tier.

Reset your filters

Your filters are saved in this browser. They survive a reload, and they don't follow you to another phone or computer. To start over, open ☰, then Settings, tap Reset Filters and confirm with Reset filters. That resets every map setting, including where the map opens. Data Management, in the same box, resets one part at a time.

5 Nests

Nests are part of Basic and Premium. Open ☰, then Nests, and turn on Pokémon for the nesting species' icon and Polygons for the park's outline. Both start off. Tap a nest to see its species, when it was last updated and its average spawns per hour.

When nests change

Nests migrate every two weeks, at 00:00 UTC on Thursday. Niantic doesn't publish this, and trackers differ, so treat it as a guide. In the Americas that's Wednesday: 5 PM Pacific and 8 PM Eastern until the clocks change on November 1, then 4 PM Pacific and 7 PM Eastern. An event can also force an extra migration.

Each nest is judged on the last 8 hours of sightings, and the old species' sightings stay in that window. After a migration, the new species takes several hours to show, up to about 8. If no species qualifies, the old one clears at the next check, which runs every 15 minutes.

How we find nests

Nest outlines are parks and other green spaces from OpenStreetMap. Our nest service, Fletchling, counts the Pokémon our scanners see inside each one. A species counts as nesting when it has at least 4 sightings of its own, makes up at least 12% of what spawns there, and is at least eight times as common there as across the map. A Pokémon that's more than 15% of all spawns across the map never counts, and the eight-times rule usually rules out other common ones, such as event spawns.

Why a nest is missing or wrong

  • The park isn't in OpenStreetMap, is smaller than 100 m² or larger than 10 km², or has fewer than 10 spawn points seen in the last 7 days. Spawn point counts are refreshed every Sunday.
  • It mostly overlaps a bigger nest, and the bigger one is kept.
  • We don't see enough Pokémon there. A nest needs at least 12 sightings. In an area we've stopped scanning, a nest keeps its last species for a while; after about a week its spawn points age out, and the Sunday recount can drop it below 10 and make it inactive.
  • It's inactive. Once Polygons is on, a filter appears with Active, All and Inactive. It starts on Active, which hides nests that have dropped out; choose All to see them.
  • The migration was less than about 8 hours ago.
  • The area is new to the map. Nest outlines for new areas are added at 08:30 UTC each night, up to 40 areas a night; the rest follow the next night.
The popup says Nest Data is Estimated! on every nest, so don't read anything into it. Check the Pokémon layer before you make the trip.

Nest names come from OpenStreetMap, and a park without one shows as Unknown Nest. You can suggest a name with Submit Nest Name in the nest's popup.

8 Troubleshooting

Why isn't the map showing any data?

Common causes:

  • Plan not picked up: A free account has no Pokémon layer. If you've paid, wait two minutes and reload the map, because it rechecks your plan about every two minutes. Still nothing? Sign out of the map and back in with the account you paid with.
  • Filters too restrictive: Reset your filters to default and gradually add them back.
  • Out of coverage area: The map only has data where we scan. Check the spot on the Coverage Map. Tokens don't unlock map data.
  • Subscription expired: Verify your subscription is active in Subscriptions.

The map is loading slowly or lagging

Try these solutions:

  • Reduce the number of active filters and layers
  • Enable icon clustering in settings
  • Close other browser tabs to free up memory
  • Clear your browser cache and cookies
  • Use a different map style (some are more lightweight)
  • Disable animations in settings

Markers aren't showing up after applying filters

Check these settings:

  • Verify the filter is actually enabled (toggled on)
  • Make sure the map is zoomed in enough (some markers only appear at certain zoom levels)
  • Check that IV/stat requirements aren't too high
  • Ensure the time filter isn't excluding current spawns
  • Reload the page to refresh the data

How do I reset my filters to default?

Open ☰, then Settings, and tap Reset Filters. Your filters are saved in your browser, so refreshing the page doesn't reset them. Filter the map, above, has the details.

Can I access the map on mobile devices?

Yes! The map is fully responsive and works on smartphones and tablets. For the best mobile experience:

  • Use your device's browser (Safari, Chrome, Firefox)
  • Enable location services for accurate positioning
  • Add the map to your home screen as a web app
  • Use simplified icon mode in settings for better performance

Why are some spawns showing as "?" or with missing info?

Incomplete data usually means:

  • The spawn hasn't been fully scanned yet (IV/stats pending)
  • Your account doesn't have IV permissions (check subscription level)
  • The Pokémon hasn't been encountered yet by our scanners
  • Data sync is in progress—wait a few seconds and refresh

9 Understanding Map Coverage

How Coverage Works

Your plan decides what the map shows, and it shows every area we cover. Tokens don't unlock anything on the map. They fund the scanning in the regions you place them on.

Token Allocation:
  • Each token covers a specific geographic region
  • You can move tokens between regions as needed
  • More tokens = more regions covered simultaneously
  • Coverage quality depends on scanner density in that region
Data Freshness:
  • Real-time: Pokémon spawns, raids, and invasions update every few seconds
  • Near real-time: Quests and lures update every 1-5 minutes
  • Periodic: Nests and weather update every 30 minutes to 2 hours
  • Static: Gym and PokéStop locations are relatively stable
Manage Your Coverage: Visit your Profile to view and adjust your token allocation across different regions. Consider allocating tokens to areas where you play most frequently.
