2 Getting Started with DM Alerts

Setting up DM alerts is quick and easy. Follow these steps to start receiving notifications:

Step 1

Subscribe to a Base Plan

DM alerts require an active subscription. Visit the Subscriptions page to choose a plan. Both Basic and Premium plans include DM alerts.

Step 2

Link Your Discord Account

From your Profile page, click "Link Discord Account" to connect your Discord account with PoGoAlerts. This allows the bot to send you DMs.

Step 3

Join the PoGoAlerts Discord Server

Join our Discord server to enable DM alerts. You must share at least one server with the bot for it to send you messages.

Configure Your Alerts

Use Discord commands or our web interface to set up your alert preferences. See detailed instructions below.

Privacy Settings: Make sure your Discord privacy settings allow direct messages from server members. Go to User Settings → Privacy & Safety → Allow direct messages from server members.

4 Discord Commands

For advanced users who prefer command-line control, PoracleJS supports comprehensive Discord commands. Send commands directly to the bot in DMs or in allowed channels.

6 Managing Your Alerts

Keep your alerts organized and optimized with these management features:

Enable/Disable Alerts

Temporarily pause all alerts without deleting your configuration:

!disable - Turn off all alerts
!enable - Turn alerts back on

View Current Tracking

See all your active alert configurations at any time:

!tracked - Show all tracking
!tracked monsters - Show only Pokémon tracking
!tracked raids - Show only raid tracking

Update Location

Change your location to track a different area:

!location [address] - Set new location
!location - View current location

Bulk Operations

Make large changes quickly using commands:

!untrack everything - Remove all Pokémon tracking
!raid remove everything - Remove all raid tracking

Tokens are a separate thing: which areas you hear about is decided here, by your filters and areas — not by where your tokens sit. Tokens fund how much scanning an area gets, which is what decides how quickly a spawn is found in the first place. Place yours on the regional tokens page.

Start Specific, Then Expand

Begin by tracking only your highest priority Pokémon (hundos, raid bosses, rare spawns). Add more alerts gradually to avoid overwhelming notifications.

Set Realistic Distances

Consider how far you can actually travel. Urban players might use 1-2km, while suburban/rural players may need 5-10km for useful alerts.

Use PVP Filters Wisely

PVP rankings can generate many alerts. Start with top 10-25 rankings and adjust based on the volume of notifications you receive.

Consider Sleep Hours

Use the !disable command before bed to pause alerts, then !enable in the morning. Some users create automation for this.

Make sure Discord mobile notifications are enabled for DMs so you don't miss important alerts when you're out and about.

8 Troubleshooting

I'm not receiving any alerts

Check these common issues:

Verify your Discord account is linked on your Profile page
Ensure you've joined the PoGoAlerts Discord server
Run !tracked to confirm you have active tracking set up
Check that alerts are enabled with !enable
Verify your subscription is active
Make sure Discord DM privacy settings allow messages from server members

I'm getting too many alerts

To reduce alert volume:

Increase your minimum IV requirements (e.g., iv95 instead of iv90)
Reduce your distance radius
Untrack common Pokémon: !untrack [pokemon]
Be more specific with raid levels instead of tracking "everything"
Remove PVP tracking if you're not actively using those Pokémon

My location isn't working correctly

Try these solutions:

Use a full address or landmark name: !location Central Park, New York
Include city and state/country for better accuracy
Use the PoracleWeb interface to set your location on a map
Check !location to see if it was set correctly

Commands aren't working

Common command issues:

Make sure you're using ! prefix (not /)
Run !poracle first to register with the bot
Check spelling of Pokémon names (use underscores for spaces: mr_mime)
Send commands in a DM with the bot or an allowed channel
Use !help [command] to see correct syntax

How do I reset all my alerts?

To start fresh:

Remove all Pokémon tracking: !untrack everything
Remove all raid tracking: !raid remove everything
Remove all quest tracking: !quest remove everything
Or use PoracleWeb to clear all settings at once
