2 Getting Started with DM Alerts
Setting up DM alerts is quick and easy. Follow these steps to start receiving notifications:

Subscribe to a Base Plan
DM alerts require an active subscription. Visit the Subscriptions page to choose a plan. Both Basic and Premium plans include DM alerts.
Link Your Discord Account
From your Profile page, click "Link Discord Account" to connect your Discord account with PoGO Alerts Network. This allows the bot to send you DMs.
Join the PoGO Alerts Network Discord Server
Join our Discord server to enable DM alerts. You must share at least one server with the bot for it to send you messages.
Configure Your Alerts
Use Discord commands or our web interface to set up your alert preferences. See detailed instructions below.
3 Your first alert: every hundo near you
Alerts arrive as Discord DMs. The first one takes about five minutes.
Before you start
- You're on Basic or Premium, and your Discord account is linked on pogoalerts.net.
- You're in the PGAN Discord server, and DMs from it are on: tap the server name, open Privacy Settings and turn Direct Messages on.
Set up the alarm
- Go to alerts.pogoalerts.net. It sends you to pogoalerts.net to sign in with Continue with Discord, or straight through if you're already signed in. If you see "Your alerts have nowhere to land", tap Join the server and then continue to the DM Alerts site.
- The first time, a short setup asks you to Set Your Location, then Choose Your Areas. Tick the areas you play in.
- Open Pokemon in the sidebar and tap + (or Add Pokemon if you have no alarms yet).
- Search for and pick All Pokemon. On the Filters tab, set Min IV and Max IV to 100, then tap Save Alarm. That's every hundo in your areas.
- On the new card, tap the paper plane (Send test notification). A sample alert should land in your DMs within seconds. Each card can send one test every 15 seconds.
Good to know
- An alarm reaches you in your ticked areas by default. On its Delivery tab you can pick Near a point instead: a radius from your pin, 0.1 to 100 km. A Near a point alarm doesn't need any areas ticked.
- An area with no support left gets no scanners, so it sends no alerts either.
- Alerts come from bots called PGAN Alerter 1, 2, 3 and up. Don't block any of them.
- Profiles keep separate sets of alarms, and Active Hours switches between them on a schedule.
- Placing a token doesn't add an area to your alerts, and ticking an area doesn't move a token.
- A custom geofence you draw on the DM Alerts site only shapes your alerts. It doesn't show on the map, and Scan an Area can't use it.
4 My DMs stopped
Check the status-updates channel in Discord first. If nothing's posted there, it's almost always one of the causes below, and you can fix most of them yourself.
You hit the limit
Each person gets at most 20 alert DMs every 240 seconds. Anything past that in the same 4 minutes is skipped for good, and the bot tells you that you've reached the limit. Hit the limit in 10 separate windows within 24 hours and your alerts are paused.
- Sign in at alerts.pogoalerts.net. A red banner says your alerts are paused.
- Tap Resume, or pick Resume Alerts from your user menu.
- Narrow your alarms, or the next busy day will pause them again: fewer areas, a smaller radius, only species you'd go out for.
Discord can't reach you
After 10 failed DMs in a row, delivery switches off. The usual causes are DMs from the PGAN server turned off, a blocked PGAN Alerter bot, or a Discord outage.
Fix the cause, then pick Resume Alerts. It can take up to 5 minutes to stick.
Other things that stop alerts
- You left the PGAN server. Rejoin and your alerts switch back on by themselves. Resume won't work until then.
- Your plan lapsed or a payment failed. Check it's active on your Subscriptions page.
- Someone tapped Pause Alerts by accident.
- Active Hours or a quiet period silences alerts, with no banner.
- No areas are ticked on Areas & Places, and the alarm isn't set to Near a point.
- The wrong profile is active. The Dashboard shows which one.
A paper-plane test only proves delivery works. It doesn't check your areas, quiet periods or where an alarm reaches you.
If your Discord is linked, the support assistant can look up your alert status. A disabled banner that rejoining doesn't clear needs a ticket in Discord or an email to [email protected].
5 Web Configuration (DM Alerts site)
The easiest way to configure your alerts is through our web interface at alerts.pogoalerts.net. This provides a visual, user-friendly experience for managing all your alert settings.

The DM Alerts site does all of this with buttons. If you'd rather type, send these commands to the PGAN Subscription Helper bot in a DM. Each one below was checked against the alert bot itself. A command that isn't listed here may not exist, so try !help first.

Start Specific, Then Expand
Begin by tracking only your highest priority Pokémon (hundos, raid bosses, rare spawns). Add more alerts gradually to avoid overwhelming notifications.
Set Realistic Distances
Consider how far you can actually travel. Urban players might use 1-2km, while suburban/rural players may need 5-10km for useful alerts.
Use PVP Filters Wisely
PVP rankings can generate many alerts. Start with top 10-25 rankings and adjust based on the volume of notifications you receive.
Consider Sleep Hours
Use the !stop command before bed to pause alerts, then !start in the morning. Some users create automation for this.
Enable Mobile Notifications
Make sure Discord mobile notifications are enabled for DMs so you don't miss important alerts when you're out and about.
Update for Events
Adjust your tracking when new events start. Track featured Pokémon, new shinies, or event-exclusive spawns to maximize your gameplay.
10 Troubleshooting
I'm not receiving any alerts
Check these common issues:
- Verify your Discord account is linked on your Profile page
- Ensure you've joined the PoGO Alerts Network Discord server
- Run
!trackedto confirm you have active tracking set up - Check that alerts are enabled with
!start - Verify your subscription is active
- Make sure Discord DM privacy settings allow messages from server members
I'm getting too many alerts
To reduce alert volume:
- Increase your minimum IV requirements (e.g.,
iv95instead ofiv90) - Reduce your distance radius
- Untrack common Pokémon:
!untrack [pokemon] - Be more specific with raid levels instead of tracking "everything"
- Remove PVP tracking if you're not actively using those Pokémon
My location isn't working correctly
