Linking & Account
Go to Account Settings → Discord and click "Link Discord Account". You'll be redirected to Discord to authorize the connection. Once approved, your Discord username will appear in your settings. See our Discord Linking Guide for detailed steps.
Yes. First unlink your current Discord account in Account Settings, then link the new Discord account. Note that your subscription is tied to your PogoAlerts account, not your Discord account, so your subscription remains active.
We request the following permissions:
- Identify - To know your Discord username and ID
- Email - For account verification (optional)
- Guilds - To sync your roles from our Discord server
We never post on your behalf or access your messages. Your privacy is important to us.
DM alerts will stop immediately when you unlink Discord. Your filter settings and subscription remain saved. Community webhooks (if you have the add-on) continue working since they're not tied to your personal Discord account.
DM Alerts
Common causes for missing DM alerts:
- Discord privacy settings blocking DMs from server members
- You blocked the PogoAlerts bot
- You're not in a shared server with the bot
- DM alerts are disabled in your settings
See our Discord Problems guide for step-by-step troubleshooting.
In Discord:
- Go to User Settings → Privacy & Safety
- Enable "Allow direct messages from server members"
- Or: Right-click our server → Privacy Settings → Allow DMs
Make sure you're a member of the PogoAlerts Discord server for the bot to reach you.
DM alert formatting is currently standardized for consistency and reliability. We include all relevant information: Pokemon name, IVs, coordinates, despawn time, and a map link. Future updates may add more customization options.
There's no hard limit from our side, but Discord has rate limits on DMs. If you receive extremely high alert volumes (hundreds per hour), some may be delayed. We recommend using filters to reduce volume to a manageable level.
Yes! Toggle "DM Alerts" off in your alert settings to pause all DM notifications. Your settings and filters are preserved. Toggle it back on when you're ready to receive alerts again. This is useful when sleeping or at work.
Webhooks
Webhooks are a way to send alerts to Discord channels instead of personal DMs. They're perfect for communities who want to share alerts with multiple people. With the Community Add-on, you can configure webhooks to post alerts to your server's channels.
First, purchase the Community Add-on. Then create a webhook in your Discord channel settings (Edit Channel → Integrations → Webhooks). Copy the webhook URL and paste it into your PogoAlerts webhook settings. See our detailed Webhook Setup Guide.
The Community Add-on includes 5 webhook channels by default. You can route different alert types to different channels (e.g., hundos to #perfect-pokemon, raids to #raids). Additional channel slots may be available as upgrades.
Yes! Each webhook channel can have its own filter configuration. This lets you send 100% IV Pokemon to one channel, PVP-ranked Pokemon to another, and raids to a third. Configure filters in the webhook settings for each channel.
Webhook issues are usually caused by:
- Webhook was deleted in Discord - create a new one and update the URL
- Channel permissions changed - ensure the webhook has "Send Messages" permission
- Rate limiting - if you're sending too many alerts, Discord may temporarily block
Test your webhook using the "Send Test" button in webhook settings.
Troubleshooting
This usually means your Discord privacy settings are blocking DMs. Discord treats "DMs closed" the same as blocking for bots. Enable DMs from server members in your Discord privacy settings, then try relinking your account.
Roles sync when you link your account and periodically thereafter. To force a sync, go to Account Settings and click "Sync Discord Roles". Make sure you're a member of the PogoAlerts Discord server with an active subscription for roles to apply.
Common linking errors and solutions:
- "Access denied" - Make sure you click "Authorize" in the Discord popup
- "Already linked" - This Discord account is linked to another PogoAlerts account
- Timeout errors - Try again, ensuring you complete authorization within 5 minutes
Clear your browser cookies and try again if issues persist.
Currently, Discord is our only alert delivery method. We chose Discord for its reliability, cross-platform support, and rich formatting options. Alternative notification methods may be considered in the future based on user demand.
