2 How to Link Your Discord Account
Follow these simple steps to connect your Discord account:
Go to Your Profile
Navigate to your Profile page from the navigation menu or dashboard.
Find Discord Section
Scroll to the "Discord Account" section. You'll see a "Link Discord" button if your account isn't connected yet.
Click "Link Discord"
Click the button to start the OAuth authorization process. You'll be redirected to Discord's website.
Authorize PoGoAlerts
On Discord's authorization page, review the permissions requested and click "Authorize" to grant access. See the Permissions section below for details.
Confirmation
You'll be redirected back to PoGoAlerts. Your Discord username and avatar will now appear on your profile, confirming the link is complete.

3 Permissions Explained
When you authorize PoGoAlerts, Discord will show you the permissions we're requesting. Here's exactly what each permission means and why we need it:
Your Privacy is Protected
We cannot read your messages, see your friends list, or access any servers except to check your membership in our community server. We only request the minimum permissions needed for alerts to work.
4 Required Discord Privacy Settings
For DM alerts to work, you need to allow direct messages from our bot. Here's how to configure your Discord privacy settings:
Open Discord Settings
Click the gear icon next to your username in Discord to open User Settings.
Go to Privacy & Safety
In the left sidebar, click on "Privacy & Safety" under the App Settings section.
Enable Server DMs
Find the setting "Allow direct messages from server members" and make sure it's enabled. This allows our bot to send you alerts.
Join Our Discord Server
You must be a member of the PoGoAlerts Discord server for our bot to message you. The bot can only DM users who share a server with it.
5 Unlinking Your Discord Account
You can unlink your Discord account at any time. Note that this will stop DM alerts until you link again.
Go to Your Profile
Navigate to your Profile page.
Find Discord Section
Locate the "Discord Account" section showing your linked Discord username.
Click "Unlink"
Click the "Unlink Discord" button. You may need to confirm this action.
6 Troubleshooting
I clicked authorize but nothing happened
Try these solutions:
- Clear your browser cache and cookies, then try again
- Make sure pop-ups aren't blocked for our website
- Try a different browser
- Check if you're already logged into Discord in that browser
I'm not receiving DM alerts
Check these common issues:
- Verify Discord is linked on your Profile page
- Check that "Allow direct messages from server members" is enabled in Discord
- Confirm you've joined the PoGoAlerts Discord server
- Make sure you have an active subscription with alerts configured
- Check that you haven't blocked our bot
I linked the wrong Discord account
Go to your Profile page and unlink the current Discord account. Then log out of Discord in your browser, log into the correct account, and link again.
Discord shows "This application is not authorized"
This usually means the OAuth session expired. Return to PoGoAlerts and start the linking process again. Make sure you're logged into your Discord account.
My Discord roles aren't syncing
Role sync happens automatically but may take a few minutes. If roles don't appear after 10 minutes, try unlinking and relinking your Discord account. Ensure you're a member of our Discord server.
