Learn to use our map tools to find the best regions and understand coverage quality.

1 Understanding Our Map Tools

PogoAlerts provides two essential map tools to help you make informed decisions about where to allocate your tokens. Understanding these tools maximizes the value of your subscription.

Coverage Map

Shows all available regions and their current scanner activity. Use this to see where alerts can be generated.

Displays the current health status of each region based on token allocation and scanner performance.

2 Using the Coverage Map

The Coverage Map shows real-time scanner activity and helps you identify which areas are actively being scanned for Pokemon Go data.

Map Features

Region Boundaries

Colored polygons show the boundaries of each available region.

Active Scanners

Dots or markers indicate where scanners are currently active.

Activity Density

Color intensity shows the level of scanning activity in each area.

Search & Filter

Search for specific regions by name or filter by region type.

Interacting with the Map

  • Click a region - View detailed information about that region
  • Zoom in/out - Use scroll wheel or pinch gestures to adjust zoom
  • Pan - Click and drag to move around the map
  • Search - Type a city or area name to quickly navigate there

3 Using the Health Map

The Health Map visualizes the current quality of coverage in each region, helping you identify well-supported areas versus those needing more tokens.

Health Status Colors

Healthy (Green)

100%+ health. Fully funded with optimal scanning and comprehensive alerts.

Degraded (Yellow)

85-99% health. Working but fragile with some coverage gaps possible.

Critical (Orange)

70-84% health. Actively subsidized, reduced coverage quality.

Inactive (Red)

<70% health. Minimal or no scanning, region needs significant token support.

Health Updates: Region health is recalculated regularly. Check back periodically to see how coverage has changed, especially after allocating or removing tokens.

4 Choosing the Right Regions

Selecting the best regions for your play style is crucial to getting the most value from your tokens.

Where You Play Most

Start with regions covering areas you visit frequently - your home, workplace, or regular play spots. Getting alerts for areas you can't reach quickly provides limited value.

Region Size & Density

Smaller, denser urban regions typically have more spawns per token. Large rural regions may require more tokens for equivalent coverage.

Current Health Status

Regions with existing healthy coverage benefit from your tokens immediately. Critical regions may need multiple users contributing before coverage improves significantly.

Community Activity

Popular regions often have community coordination. Check Discord for local groups that share token strategies for specific areas.

Region Selection Strategies

Home Base Focus

Allocate most tokens to your primary play area for consistent, reliable coverage.

Multi-Location Split

Split tokens between home and work areas, or multiple regular play locations.

Event Chasing

Temporarily shift tokens to event-focused regions during special spawns or Community Days.

5 Understanding Region Health

Region health is calculated based on multiple factors, not just the number of allocated tokens.

Total tokens allocated by all users to the region. More tokens = more scanning capacity.

Larger regions need more tokens to maintain the same coverage percentage as smaller ones.

Spawn Density

Areas with more Pokemon spawn points require more scanning resources to cover effectively.

Scanner Efficiency

Technical factors like API response times and game server load affect scanning speed.

Optimal vs. Actual Tokens: Each region has an "optimal" token count where adding more tokens provides diminishing returns. The health map helps identify regions below, at, or above their optimal level.

Get the most out of your tokens with these optimization strategies.
